Jewelry Care

To prolong the lifespan of your jewelry, you must take care of it. I've put together some helpful general guidelines to care for your jewelry.

*Invest in Anti-Tarnish Strips!*

One of the coolest inventions ever are these little strips the help suck the moisture in the surrounding air. Anti-tarnish tabs or bags absorb and neutralize the chemicals that cause tarnish. Store strips in your jewelry drawer, box, organizer, or pouch for added safety.

*Jewelry Protectant Spray*

Do jewelry pieces turn your skin green? The reason is the oils in your skin can react with the metals in your jewelry pieces causing it to oxidize faster. You can spray your jewelry with a protectant spray to help fight tarnishing and oxidizing. There are some sprays that even protect the wearer from allergies (irritation, rashes, etc).

*Permalac Clear Protective Coating*

A product I use and enjoy, although I do not endorse nor hold any affiliation with its manufacturer, it is a great clear protective coating that you can apply to protect metals and other surfaces against wear and the elements. A coating is ideal for jewelry makers that wish to safeguard their stunning creations or are selling your handmade creations. One application can add years of life to your jewelry creations, allowing you to showcase your creativity and beauty with confidence.

*Avoid contact with soaps, perfumes, lotions, hairspray, chemicals and water while wearing jewelry.

*Remove jewelry before going to bed to avoid damages and tangles.

*Avoid wearing metal jewelry when exercising or participating in physical activity.

*Avoid excessive pulling, as it may result in damage or breakage.

*Store jewelry in a drawer, box, or organizer. Moisture and humidity in the air can wear down your jewelry fast! It's very important to store your jewelry properly.

*Gemstone Jewelry*
Wearing gemstone jewelry may often cause it to lose its shine. Want to bring the sparkle back...Gently scrub your gemstones with mild dishwashing soap and a soft-bristled toothbrush. Use a clean gently damp towel to rid of the soap, and pat dry with a soft dry towel.
